    Chaya – the brainchild of Matthias Knoll

    Chaya is part of Powerslide and was founded by Matthias Knoll. He started skating at the age of six with classic roller skates on wooden wheels. He quickly rose to success as a speed skater and joined the German national team. In the early 90s, he was one of the first to switch to inline skates.

    Matthias eventually left his sports career behind to chase his dream of entrepreneurship. In 1994, he co-founded Powerslide with his friend Stefan Göhl. What started as a skate gear distributor turned into a brand that designs and builds innovative skates, parts, and accessories.

    Still, Matthias never lost his love for traditional roller skating. That’s why in 2015, he launched Chaya as part of the Powerslide family. His goal? To bring quad skates back to life with modern, high-quality, and technically advanced products—for everything from roller derby to artistic skating and lifestyle cruising.

    Chaya reflects Matthias’s passion and vision. The brand fully lives up to its promise of being "skater owned". Matthias still skates regularly himself and pushes his team daily to go beyond expectations. With Chaya, he’s fueling the global love for roller skating—powered by style, comfort, and innovation.
