    Choosing the right roller derby plates is a personal decision. There are a lot of factors that determine what’s best for you. Ask yourself questions like these:

    • Are you a jammer or a blocker? Jammers tend to prefer lightweight, agile plates. Blockers usually go for something more stable and sturdy.
    • Do you want speed or control? A responsive plate helps you change direction quickly, but can reduce control at higher speeds.
    • What kind of balance and feel do you like? The kingpin angle, wheelbase length, and cushion hardness all influence how your skates feel and respond.
    • What toe stops are you using? Imperial US threading is standard for roller derby plates, while more artistic plates have European threading, which only fits metric toe stops.
