    Chaya – The creation of Matthias Knoll

    Chaya is part of Powerslide and was founded by Matthias Knoll. His skating journey began at the age of six, using classic roller skates with wooden wheels. He quickly developed into a successful speed skater and joined the German national team. In the early ‘90s, he was one of the first to switch to inline skates.

    Before long, Matthias traded his athletic career for entrepreneurship. In 1994, he co-founded Powerslide with his friend Stefan Göhl. What started as a skate equipment distributor evolved into a brand that now develops innovative skates, parts, and accessories.

    But Matthias never lost his love for his roots – traditional roller skating. In 2015, he launched Chaya as part of the Powerslide family. His mission? To put quad skates back on the map with modern, high-quality, and technically advanced products for things like roller derby, artistic skating, and lifestyle skating.

    Chaya reflects Matthias’s passion and vision. The brand truly lives up to its promise of being "skater owned". Matthias is still an active roller skater himself – constantly challenging his team to bring out the best in themselves and their products.
