    Riedell Skates – From Ice Skates to Quads

    In 1945, Paul Riedell and his wife Sophie founded Riedell Shoes Inc. in the city of Red Wing, Minnesota. In the late 19th century, one of the first American ski clubs was established there – home to many Scandinavian immigrants. Ice skating quickly became a popular winter pastime.

    Paul and Sophie aimed to deliver the highest quality skates on the market. That’s why they focused on crafting handmade boots with great attention to detail and quality. At the same time, they wanted to keep them affordable, making their skates accessible to everyone – from hobbyists to world champions.

    It wasn’t long before Riedell stepped into roller skates as well. They stayed true to their deep expertise and commitment to advanced technology. The combination of comfort and performance paid off. Paul Riedell was inducted into both the Ice Skating Hall of Fame and the Roller Skating Hall of Fame. Today, his grandsons Bob, Dan, Scott and Paul Riegelman run the company, which now employs more than 100 people.
